Biography

                    Patricia A. Hudak


     Patricia (Patty) A. Hudak (Baptiste), 63, went to the Lord on  Saturday, December 24, 2011 with her loving family at her side after  a brief battle with cancer.  Patty was born in Rome, N.Y. on August  6, 1948, the daughter of William Sr. and Rose Corigliano Baptiste.   She graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1966. On September 6, 1969,  she wed the late Andrew Hudak Sr.  Patty owned and operated Tom and  Jerry's Liquors with her husband from 1980-2008.

      Patty was a devoted public servant and served as an Oneida County  Legislature (29D), where she was a member of several committees. She  was appointed county minority leader and was also the past chair of  the Rome Democratic Committee.  In her spare time, Patty enjoyed  cooking, reading and spending time with her family.

     Patty is survived by her daughter, JuneAnn and son-in-law Richard  Rogers, Fort Plain, NY; her son Andrew Jr. and his wife US Army Capt.  Rachael Hudak of Columbia, S.C.; her mother Rose Baptiste, Rome; her  grandchildren Cameron, Olivia, Brieanna and Sarah;  her brother,  William Baptiste Jr. and his wife, Carrie, Manlius, N.Y.; Also  surviving are her brother-in-law, Thomas Hudak, and his wife, Linda,  of Cleveland, Ohio; her sister-in-law, Marian Knill and her husband,  James of Strongsville, Ohio; and several nieces, nephews and many  special friends, including, Kathy Perez and Joe Vescio, Frank and  Joanne George, and Betty Havens. Patty was predeceased by her  husband, Andrew J. Hudak Sr., and her father, William Baptiste Sr.

      The family would like to thank the staff of 2 North of Rome Hospital,  as well as Drs. Potluri, Goel, and Harrison for their care and  kindness shown to Patty during her illness.

      Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:15 a.m. from the  Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St.  John the Baptist Church at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Paul F.  Angelicchio officiating.  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.

      In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to one of the  following:  Hospice & Palliative Care Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement  Road, New Hartford, NY  13413; Jervis Public Library, 613 N.  Washington St. Rome, N.Y. 13440; or Insight House, 500 Whitesboro  Street, Utica, NY  13502.

Patty and I were friends all through high school. I moved to Oregon but made a poit to try and see her when I visite Rome. I hope she is not suffering anymore. My heart and prayers go to the family
