Carmella A. Salce Carmella A. Salce , 87, of Rome, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2007 at Rome Memorial Hospital residential Healthcare Facility. She was born in Rome, N.Y. on February 3, 1920, daughter of the late Carlo and Concetta Voci Sestito. Carmella was a graduate of Rome Free Academy Class of 1938. In April 1941, she married Sylvester A. Salce in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away November 5, 1978. Mrs. Salce retired from Griffiss Air Force Base and was a former employee of Goldbergs. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Carmella was also a member of G.A.L.S. Club and was an avid golfer, bowler and she also enjoyed music. Surviving are a son, David A. Salce, Rome; four grandchildren, Sean and wife Cheryl Salce, Rome, Stacey and husband Erik Goding , Fresno, Calif., Candace Lynn Salce, Cleveland, Ohio, and Justin Salce, Rome; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Rosina Sestito, of Rome. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Bernice Salce and Lois Sestito, and two brothers-in-law, Michael Tardugno and Arthur Froelich. She was predeceased by a daughter, Camille E. Salce, a sister, Katherine Tardugno, two brothers, Frank and Samuel Sestito, and sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Dominick Salce, Rose Salce, Julia Salce, Edna Froelich, Helen and Russ Destito, Elga Salce, Doris Salce, Josephine and Jack Morasco, Angelo Salce, and Paul Salce. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 8:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
