Antoinette G. Guaspari Antoinette G. Guaspari, 86, of Ithaca, formerly of Rome, passed away Sunday, September 2, 2007 in Groton, NY after a long illness. Born in Rionero in Vulture, Potenza, Italy on March 4, 1921, she emigrated to the United States in 1929 with her parents, Raffaele Grieco and Maria Donato Grieco. A graduate of Rome Free Academy (RFA), Antoinette was married for 56 years to the late Harry E. Guaspari, whom she cared for attentively during his long final illness. Antoinette served as a secretary at Griffiss Air Force Base during World War II. She was then a secretary in the Rome public school system, first at Gansevoort School and then at RFA, until her retirement. For 75 years, she belonged to the parish of St. John the Baptist Church in Rome and then the Immaculate Conception Church in Ithaca. She loved to cook and entertain, to play poker, to root for the New York Yankees and RFA, and actively supported the PTA, Cub Scouts, youth baseball and the RFA alumni association. Surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, David Guaspari, Ithaca, John and Gail Guaspari, Walpole, Mass.; two grandchildren, Michael Guaspari, Sherman Oaks, Calif., and Joanna Guaspari, Walpole, Mass. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and god children. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:45 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimers Association (www.alz.org).
