George R. Gallien Sr. George R. Gallien Sr., 79, of Rome, passed away Friday, February 15, 2008 at University Hospital, Syracuse. He was born January 13, 1929 in Derry, New Hampshire, the son of the late Joseph George and Sadie Piper Gallien. Geroge attended schools in Derry, New Hampshire. On June 11, 1949, he married Mary Angela Lentino in St. John the Baptist Church in Rome. They had a blessed marriage of nearly 59 years. George was a World War II veteran who served in the Army/Air Force for 3 years. He participated in the Oneida County WWII Memorial Veterans Trip to Washington, D.C. in 2007. Mr. Gallien was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base in the PMEL Lab for 34 tears. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, DAV (Ch.20), and American Legion. His favorite motto was "Rome is Home," and he was a big supporter of the Rome community. George was a master woodworker. He taught children woodworking in the YEP Program at Denti School. George was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Surviving besides his wife Mary are three children, a son and daughter-in-law, George Jr. and Mary E. Gallien, Rome, two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Angela and Michael Pettinelli, Pueblo, Colorado, and Janet and Howard Brittain, Buffalo, N.Y., nine grandchildren, Micheal Pettinelli Jr., Jennifer Bearup, Marissa Johnson, Timothy Gallien, Clare Gallien, Stephen Brittain, Justin Brittain, Wesley Brittain and Mary Angela Brittain, and a great granddaughter, Hannah McKenzie Pettinelli. Also surviving are a brother, Edward Gallien of Port Richie, Florida, and a special aunt, Lucille Gallien, Guilford, N.H. and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Arrangements by the Nicholas J.
