Mary (Maria) Mandronico, 90, of Sarasota, FL, and formerly of Rome, passed away on Friday, June 20, 2008, at Manor Care Nursing Center, Sarasota, FL. Mary was born on February 21, 1918, in Rome, NY, daughter of the late John and Carmela Galliano Marchesani, where she resided for most of her life. She was educated in local schools. On July 4, 1939, she married Angelo (Barney) Mandronico. He passed away December 25, 1997. Mary, along with her husband, Angelo, was the owner/operator of Barneys Restaurant in Rome, where she worked as a chef for many years. Mary was a member of the Rome Country Club (Beaver Brook Lady Golf Club) and was also an active bowler. She was a wonderful mother and a lover of children and animals. She was the definition of a spunky lady who was ninety years young. She will be missed by many, including her children and their spouses, Patricia and Steve Cerjan, of Sarasota, FL, Ronald and Lou Ann Mandronico, of New Hartford, NY, Marie and Bert Bauer, of Atlanta, GA, and Beverly and Bill Murphy, of Johnsburg, IL. She leaves eight grandchildren, Mary Cerjan Young, Janet Haney, Timothy Mandronico, Bryan Mandronico, Scott Bauer, Jonathan Bauer, Erin Verplank and Christopher Murphy. Mary loved and enjoyed her four great-grandchildren, Thia and Avery Haney, and Maria and Sara Mandronico. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Theresa Golden, of Syracuse; brothers-in-law, Anthony Mandronico and Joe Cavano, of Rome; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Angelo (Barney) Mandronico, and two brothers, Thomas and Gabriel Marchesani. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2008, at 9:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., Rome, and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pauls Church. Burial will be held in St. Johns Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association of CNY, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204 in memory of Mary.
