Mark K. Boerger Mark (Cave) Boerger , 56, of Rome, passed away Tuesday,July 29,2008 at home with his loving mother, Peggy J. Tosti, at his side.,after a long fought and courageous battle with cancer. He was born April 19,1952 in Minneapolis, Minn, and attended school in Madison, Wisc.before moving with his family to Rome. where he attended school before moving with his family to Rome. Mark was a graduate of Rome Free Academy,class of 1970. After High School, he joined the United States Army,served in Germany and Stateside before being honorably discharged.in 1976. Mr. Boerger was employed by the United States Air Force at Griffiss Air Force Base as a civilian for twenty-seven years,earning several awards for his dedication to his work.He retired in 2003. Mark never forgot his roots,remaining loyal to his native Wisconsin sports teams,rooting for the University of Wisconsin Badgers, the Milwaukee Brewers,and especially,his beloved Green Bay Packers. He was also devoted to Tweaky, his feline friend of nine years Besides his mother, Peggy,Mark leaves behind a stepfather,Joe Tosti,two brothers,Michael Boerger and his wife Marta,of California;Gaetano Tosti and his fiance, Francine Iglesias, Rome;two sisters,Eva Marie and Ava Smoldt,California;two nieces,Corrie Boerger,Sara Smoldt;and two nephews,Steven Smoldt and Tyler Tosti. Mark had two very special friends,Joe Vescio. And Kathy Perez, who contributed so much to his care and added to his enjoyment of life. The family would like to thank Hospice Care Workers,especially nurses Mary and Jane. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc.,218 W. Court St.,on Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
