Adeline 'Addie' P. Matteo Adeline 'Addie' P. Matteo, 97, of Rome, passed away on Monday, October 20, 2014 at Bethany Gardens. She was born in Rome, NY, on June 18, 1917, daughter of the late Pasquale and Domenica Tousto Merola. Addie attended Rome Schools and Rome Central Business School. On July 7, 1952, she married Anthony A. Matteo in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away on May 23, 1988. Addie was a Commissioner of Deeds for Oneida County for 40 years. In 1972, she retired from the former Joseph Carollo Sporting Goods as a secretary. Addie was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and South Rome Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed cooking and knitting for her many friends at Rome Towers, seventh floor. Surviving are many nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends including Mowie Alaimo, Addie Spencer and many others. She was predeceased by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and Patrick St. Thomas, Sr. and Rose and Mickey Lombino, four brothers and three sisters-in-law; Dominick and Catherine Merola, Alexander and Carmella Merola, Joseph and Beatrice Merola, and Patsy Merola. The family would like to express a special thank you for the wonderful care given from the staff on the fourth floor of Bethany Gardens. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, where relatives and friends are invited to attend with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Memorial Fund, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome, NY, 13440. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W.
