Anita S. Garofalo Anita S. Garofalo, 101, of Rome passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Health Care Facility. She was born in Rome, NY on August 8, 1913 a daughter of the late Dominick Sr. and Ascenza DiMaggio DiDone. Anita was educated in Rome Schools. On November 24, 1938, she married Gabriel P. Garofalo in St. John the Baptist Church, a marriage of 55 years. He passed away on April 30, 1993. Anita retired as a cook from the Rome City School District. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Anita enjoyed her family, cooking and gardening. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law; Gabriel and Christine Garofalo, Rome, Ralph and Mary Ann Garofalo and Vincent Garofalo all of Rochester, five grandchildren including James and Christian and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother and sisters-in-law; Dominick and Lena DiDone, Mary DiDone all of Rome, a sister Mary Ensenat of Rome, and several nieces, nephews, and a brother-in-law. She was predeceased by two brothers Louis and his wife Josephine DiDone, John DiDone and a sister, Rose Mastraccio. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the nurses and nurse's aides at Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Health Care Facility for their love, care and compassion shown to Anita through the years. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 1:15 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial Contributions may be made to Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Health Care Facility, 1500 N. James St., Rome, NY, 13440. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W.
