Helen A. Cassese Helen A. Cassese, 89, of Rome, passed away suddenly on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born in Westernville, NY, on December 22, 1925 a daughter of the late Francis and Ethel Woodhouse Butters. Helen attended Rome Schools. On June 16, 1950 she married Pasquale Cassese in Rome. He passed away October 13, 1978. She retired in 2001 as a Dietician from Rome Nursing Home. Helen enjoyed watching professional wrestling, camping, playing cards and was an avid Pitch and Rum player. Surviving are four sons and two daughters-in-law; Joseph and Erna Cassese, DE; Mark Cassese; John Cassese; James and Deborah Cassese, all of Rome; four daughters and a son-in-law; Carol Lodico; Ella and Patrick Dangerfield; Agnes Ecker and fiancé Paul Pratt all of Rome and Donna Elizondo, VA, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law; Donald and Marlo Butters, CA, Hildred and Jane Butters, Rome and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Pasquale, a son, Mickey Cassese, who passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015, two brothers; Cyrus and Byron Butters, four sisters; Erma Short, Ruby Aldrich, Rosa Wright and Bertha Benjamin. Funeral Services will be held at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., on Sunday March 29, 2015 at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the family.
