Rosalie M. Oliver Rosalie M. Oliver, 57, of Rome passed away on Monday, October 19, 2015, after a long battle with cancer, at Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility. She was born in Rome, NY, on November 6, 1957 daughter of the late Rosario "Sal" and Pauline Testa Guiliano. Rosalie graduated from Rome Free Academy Class of 1975. She married Walter E. Oliver in March of 1976. Rosalie worked at Staley Jr. High/ Staley Upper Elementary for thirty-six years retiring in 2013. Also during that time she ran the Summer Feeding Program, providing bagged lunches to children at all the city parks during the summer. Rosalie was Vice President of her local CSEA Union and also ran the RFA Concession Stand for a period of time. She enjoyed bowling and playing bocce and was Secretary/Treasurer for several leagues for many years. The leagues included the Youth Bowling Program at Rome Bowling Center, several women's leagues at Mohawk Lanes, Rome Bowing Center and King Pin Lanes. Rosalie was a member of the 600 Club and was inducted into the Rome Bowling Hall of Fame in 2008. She organized a Thursday night women's bocce league that started at Rome Bowling Center and later moved to the Toccolana Club. Rosalie was a die-hard NY Yankee fan (especially Mark Teixeira) and followed NASCAR driver Jimmie Johnson. She enjoyed baking, especially cookies at Christmas time and spending time with her friends and family. Rosalie was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Surviving besides her husband Walter, are a daughter, Jessica Oliver, a son, Travis Oliver and Justine all of Rome, Also surviving are a sister, Patricia Johnson, a brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Cindy Guiliano all of Rome, a brother-in-law, Ernest Oliver, TX, sister-in-law and brother-in law, Wendi and Joe Mekus, FL, and several nieces and nephews, special amigos, Kathleen LaGreco and Sharron Calandra. She was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law Larry and Ida Guiliano, a brother-in-law, Russell Johnson Sr., father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ernest and Jennie Oliver, Sr. and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Elizabeth and Paul Swancott. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Friends and family may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Please omit flowers and Mass cards. Contributions may be made to the family.
