Mary D'Antonio-Trotz MARY E. D'ANTONIO-TROTZ, 94, of Roanoke, VA formerly of Rome, NY passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 16, 2016. She was known by her family and friends as "Mary Dee." Mary was born in Rome, NY on September 1, 1922, the daughter of the late Romeo and Rose (Pape) Bonomo. She was a 1940 graduate of Rome Free Academy. Mary worked as a beautician for thirty years, 28 of those years owning her own salon. She then moved to Shawnee Mission, KS. The majority of her retirement years were spent in Pt. St. Lucie, FL. She later moved to Roanoke, VA to be closer to family. Mary attended Lady of Nazareth Church in Roanoke. She was a member of the Italian American First Ladies and Women's Club. She was known for her cooking and baking, especially her homemade noodles, raviolis, wine cookies and biscotti. She enjoyed swimming and playing cards with friends. Mary Dee lived a very active life and was fortunate enough to travel extensively. On January 9, 1943, Mary was united in marriage with Philip J. D'Antonio, at St. John the Baptist Church, Rome, NY. He passed away in 1987 after 45 years of marriage. In 1991, Mary married Theodore Trotz. He passed away in 1993. Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law; Philip C. and Livia D'Antonio, Rome, Michael J. and Laura D'Antonio, Salem, VA and Alfred J. D'Antonio of Kansas City, MO. She is also survived by two step-children, Cathy Gamp and Gary Trotz ; seven grandchildren, Philip and his wife Beth D'Antonio, Murfreesboro, TN.; Melissa and her husband Trace O'Rourke, Rome, Steven and his wife Lara D'Antonio, Manakin-Sabot, VA.; Sarah D'Antonio and her fiance', Alexander Gard, Lawrence, KS; Christopher D'Antonio, Kansas City, MO; Paul and his wife Jennifer D'Antonio, Blue Springs, MO; and Russell and his wife Candy D'Antonio, Ankey, IA.; 14 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother, Anthony Bonomo of Phoenix, AZ and a sister- in- law, Phyllis D'Antonio, of Rome, as well as several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J.
