Obituary of Linda K. Bennett
Linda K. Bennett
1947 - 2025
Linda K. Bennett, age 77, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025 with her family by her side, after a long five year battle with cancer.
Born on May 28,1947 in Wyano, PA, she was the daughter of the late Bennett and Catherine Kelley. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy in 1965. She married Herbert Bennett on July 17, 1972.
As the matriarch of a military family, Linda experienced frequent assignments and moves, attending Auburn University and enjoyed traveling in Europe and the United States.
Work experiences included Griffiss (NAF), Bus Industries of America, PAR technologies and Turning Stone Casino until her retirement. Once retired, Linda was able to devote time to her passion for crafting, gardening, and camping. Mom loved going to the casino and never met a slot machine she didn't like. She was a true "one armed bandit"!
Linda’s love for paper crafting, scrapbooking and stamping led her to rise up the ranks with Stampin Up Inc. She took pride in her work and loved teaching others as she would hold card classes in her home studio and at BOCES.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Herbert A Bennett Jr., daughters; Amy Brawdy-Carlo (John), Lori Metzgar (Russ) and Taylor Wright (Matt), grandchildren; Christopher, Stephen, Sydney Catherine, Kinsley, and great grandson, Asher. She was predeceased by her mother and father, and brother "Junie". The family is forever grateful for the love and kindness of special friends especially Christopher Famolaro and Anne Guley.
The family wishes to thank all of Linda’s health care providers at Slocum Dickson and Upstate Medical Center for their care. A special thank you to the caring staff of the Rome Health Residential Facility, and especially to the 3 South Staff for the professional and compassionate care.
Relatives and friends are welcome to pay their respects at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., Rome, NY 13440, on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 1-2 p.m. Private family graveside services will be held in the spring in West Newton Cemetery, Pennsylvania.
