1945 - 2025
Frank Belmont, 79, of Rome, NY, passed away peacefully on Thursday March 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on September 14, 1945, to Gaetano and Maria (Vestita) Belmonte in Crotone, Italy. His family moved to the United States in November of 1956. After graduating from Rome Free Academy in 1965, Frank served in the United States Air Force. In 1973, he met Barbara Ann Gigliotti, and they married, April 12, 1975, in Blessed Sacrament Church, Utica. Frank then went on to carry out a 36-year career at Rome Housing Authority.
Frank enjoyed and was skilled in many aspects of the arts. He was a talented artist and musician. After retiring in 2006, he reconnected with his love of sailing and travelling- especially going on cruises with his wife. Frank also enjoyed spending time travelling around the world virtually and solving complex puzzles on his gaming system in his “computer room”.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Barbara, their three children, Michelle (Henri Acosta), Amanda (Jeremy Bunkley) and Frank (Kylee Haley); six grandchildren Thomas, Trace, Alison, Danton, Donovan, Alivia and one more on the way; one great-grandchild, Zyra. Also surviving are his siblings Larry Belmonte, Carmella Palmieri, Michael Belmonte and Adele (Rod) LaMark and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother, Tony Belmonte, sisters-in-law, Marie Belmonte and Adele Belmonte, a brother-in-law, Lino Palmieri and a nephew, Rod LaMark.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St, Rome. The family will receive family and friends in church, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., prior to the Funeral Mass.
Memorial contributions may be made in Frank’s name to the charity of one’s choice.
