1934 - 2025
Vickey F. Todora, 90, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 12, 2025. Vickey was born in Amboy, New York, on June 14, 1934. She was the eldest daughter of the late Walter and Gladys Reczko Fassler. Vickey was a graduate of Camden Central High School. Her first job was at Eddies Restaurant, Sylvan Beach, New York. After High School graduation, she was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, New York, at which time she left the workforce for several years to care for her two sons. Vickey later returned to work with the Rome Housing Authority, retiring in1996.
Vickey was a member of the Women’s Moose Club for many years. She also enjoyed bowling in her younger years, and pinochle at the Rome Senior Center. Vickey loved country music, especially Loretta Lynn and Charlie Pride, locally she was a proud member of the Ronnie Smith fan club. She also greatly enjoyed both indoor and outdoor gardening, her green thumb was evident through her beautiful rose bushes and her large collection of hibiscus. After retirement, Vickey and Sam enjoyed traveling both nationally and international. She was a member of the Zion Episcopal Church.
Surviving are, Vickey’s loving husband of 70 years, Samuel Todora, her two sons, Joseph (Helen) Todora of Jay, New York and Paul Todora of Lee Center, New York. She leaves her sister Marian (George) Blanchard of Lee Center, New York, her grandchildren whom she loved very much Melissa (Joe) Kinney of Frankfort, New York, Sara (Adam) Carter of Apex, North Carolina, Jennifer Todora of Eliot, Maine, Jill McKissick (Jonathan) of Wilmington, New York, Amy Hayner of North Brunswick, New Jersey, Brian Todora of Rome, New York, Marina Todora, of Rome, New York, and Gwen Todora of Rochester, New York. Vickey also adored her 5 great grandchildren, Lilah Mckissick, Hadley Mckissick, Wren McKissick, Matthew Carter, and Elliott Carter, as well as many nieces and nephews. Vickey was especially close to her niece Brenda Furman, and her former daughter-in-law Mary Jane Todora. Vickey was predeceased by her sister Eleanor Litwin and brother Charles Fassler, and her dearest pup, Shelby.
In keeping with Vickey’s request, there will be no calling hours or public funeral services.
Friends and family are encouraged to donate to their favorite charity in memory of Vickey.
