Samuel J. Todora

1930-2025

Samuel Todora, 95, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 14, 2025. He was born in Rome, NY on March 30, 1930. Sam was the youngest son of the late Carl and Josephine Procopio Todora. He attended Columbus school, Rome Jr. High School and Rome Free Academy before enlisting in the United States Army from 1950-1953. During this time, he served as a member of the military police while stationed in Fort Eustis, Virginia and in Berlin, Germany. Following his discharge from the army, he met and married his loving wife of 70 years, Vickey Fassler Todora. Sam worked as a self-employed auto mechanic at Todora’s Auto Repair. 

Sam’s hobbies were bowling, wood working and playing cards. Sam was a member and governor of the Moose Club for many years. Sam always enjoyed riding his motorcycles, working in his garage and helping anyone who needed it with their auto repairs. Together, Sam and Vickey enjoyed long night pinochle tournaments with loved ones. After retirement, Sam and Vickey enjoyed traveling both nationally and internationally. 

Surviving are his two sons, Joseph (Helen) Todora of Jay, New York and Paul Todora of Lee Center, New York. His grandchildren whom he loved very much, Melissa (Joe) Kinney of Frankfort, New York, Sara (Adam) Carter of Apex, North Carolina, Jennifer Todora of Kennebunk, Maine, Jill McKissick(Jonathan) of Wilmington, New York, Amy Hayner of North Brunswick, New Jersey, Brian Todora of Rome, New York, Marina Todora, of Rome, New York, and Gwen Todora of Rochester, New York.  Also surviving are nieces and nephews Brenda Furman, Carl, Carol, Nicholas and David Todora. 

Sam was predeceased by his wife Vickey Todora and brother Nicholas Todora. 

Friends and family are encouraged to donate to their favorite charity in memory of Sam.

Services for the family will be private. There are no calling hours.
