Christopher “Mike” Harney

1963 - 2025

Christopher “Mike” M. Harney, 62, of Rome, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 28, 2025.  He was born in Hamilton, NY, on February 17, 1963, the son of Gloria (Parkhurst) Harney and Robert C. Harney.  He attended Rome Free Academy where he built lifelong friendships and a strong sense of work ethic that would follow him throughout his life.

For more than 20 years, he was the proud co-owner of Winterton Painting, a business he built with dedication, integrity, and a genuine commitment to the people he served. Some of his more memorable jobs include the B-52 Bomber plane on Griffiss Air Force Base and numerous projects at Hamilton College.

He shared 37 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Jacinda “Cindy” (Roser) Harney, a partnership grounded in love, loyalty, and perseverance. Together they raised two children, Robert and Kaeli Jo, and a granddaughter Abigale.  Mike also leaves behind his best friend and beloved dog Immi.

Mike enjoyed numerous hobbies including fishing, hunting, and bowling. As he aged his hobbies changed to fit his lifestyle to include golfing, boating, and RVing. His love for music has remained consistent throughout his life as an avid guitar player.

Mike will be remembered for his laughter, generosity wit, and ability to have a joke on any occasion.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy, his children, Robert (Juan) Harney, Kaeli Jo (Connor) Harney, granddaughter, Abigale, his mother, Gloria Harney,  three sisters , Shirley (Robert) Suda, Jeanne (Donald) Durgan, Diane (Doug) Mason and his brother,  Charles Harney, and brothers- in- law,  Jack (Paula) Roser and Joseph (Connie) Roser, and several nieces,  nephews, and great- nieces and nephews.  Mike was predeceased by his father, Robert C. Harney and his in-laws, Joseph A. Roser and Alberta M. (Coonrod) Roser.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 7:00 p.m., at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., Rome, NY 13440. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 4-7 p.m.
