1948 - 2026


 


Ronald M. Montana, 78, of Rome, passed away on Monday February 16th, 2026 after a brief illness, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Rome NY on February 15th, 1948, son of the late Ralph and Frances Versace Montana. Ronald was educated in Rome schools and a graduate of Rome Free Academy. He was joined in marriage to Dawn Medick in 2003 until his passing.


 


A loving father, brother, husband, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, and one of THE biggest Elvis fans you’d ever meet. He had an undeniable smile and laugh that you would never forget. 


Ronald lived his entire life in Rome. He was employed by Revere Copper and Brass, the City of Rome in various positions, and most recently the Turning Stone Casino. For many years, Ronald also owned his own janitorial business. Hardworking and dedicated to family - he is and will always be irreplaceable.


 


Ronald is survived by his wife Dawn, his sons Ronald C Montana, New Bern NC, Jim “Guido” Montana and wife April of West Leyden, NY, daughters Beth Anderson, Jacksonville, NC, Ashley Schreiber and husband Richard, New Bern, NC and Samantha Martin of Rome. Also surviving are his cherished grandchildren: Shannon and husband Adam, Amanda and husband Jack, Kim and husband Brian, Andrew and wife Ashley, Morgan, Scarlet, Izaiah and wife Chloe, Thomas, Caleb, Chelsea, Sammy (Jojo) and Jacob,  beloved great-grandchildren: Faith, Michael, James, Delaney, Tucker, Tess, Isabelle, Hadley Rae, Victoria, Evelyn, Adelaide, Eleanor, and Oliver, as well as a sister, Linda Montana Steinhauer and husband Allen of Rome. He was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Frances, and son-in-law Khalil Anderson.


 


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday February 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick Street, Rome, N.Y. Relatives and friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd. Rome, on Thursday February 19, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date.


Memorial contributions in Ronald’s name may be made to American Cancer Society, Golisano Hope Lodge, 1120 Goodman Street south, Rochester, NY 14620.
