Maryanne Peck Obituary
Maryanne Mosca Peck
1948 - 2026
Maryanne Mosca Peck, 77, passed away comfortably on March 27, 2026. She was born in Rome, N.Y., on June 5, 1948, to Frank (Chief) and Matilda (Tille) Basilio Mosca. Maryanne attended Rome Free Academy, where she met the love of her life, David J. Peck. They married on July 23, 1966. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Kristen, on June 26, 1973. Maryanne and Dave opened the first convenience store in Rome, Peck’s One Stop, on Floyd Ave. When Maryanne was not serving the public with her husband, she was deeply devoted to her family's business, Modern Moving and Storage, where she worked until her death.
Maryanne was an avid bowler and Bocce player and could often be found at the Toccolana Club's women's Bocce league. Her Bocce girls' family included her goddaughter and brought energy and excitement to life—and occasionally led the way into a bit of mischief. Maryanne was known for her exceptional warmth and strength, especially when faced with adversity. She was extremely family-oriented and enjoyed cooking lasagna, Italian wedding soup, or antipasto for everyone. Maryanne looked forward to the yearly Basillio’s family reunions.
Maryanne is survived by her daughter, Kristen Peck-Sanford, and her son-in-law, Garth Sanford, whom she spent a lot of time with while he was on-call. She leaves the second love of her life, her grandson John Sanford (JD), her siblings Michael Mosca (Shirley), Robert Mosca (Debbie), and Marie Helmick. Maryanne leaves behind several very special nieces and nephews. She also leaves her 50-year forever friend and “partner in crime,” Elly Ferlo. Maryanne was most excited about spending time with her family and was the “bright light” at family gatherings. Maryanne was predeceased by her husband, David; her son, David II; her parents; her sister, Patricia Larder; her brothers, Frank and Arthur Mosca; and her sister-in-law, Elaine Mosca. Her in-laws, Herbert (Tina) Peck, Daniel Peck, and her nephew Jason Mosca.
Those who knew Maryanne best felt her love deeply, especially her daughter, who shares:
My mother was my greatest teacher, showing me through her life what kindness, resilience, and unconditional love truly mean. I am endlessly grateful to have been her daughter; her love was the foundation of my life. Forever my best friend!
