Lori A. Mercurio

1963-2026

Lori A. Mercurio, age 63, of Rome, passed away in her home on March 30, 2026. She was born in Rome, N.Y. on February 3, 1963, daughter of the late Dominick and Evelyn Rosati Mercurio and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. Lori was engaged to the late Yale Rich, who passed away on May 6, 2025. She was formerly employed as a personal care aide, where she dedicated herself to caring for the elderly with compassion and kindness. 

Lori’s work ethic was unmatched. Through rain, snow, and the most difficult of days, she walked to work without hesitation, demonstrating a level of determination and strength that will always be remembered by those who knew her. She had a special love for decorating her home, especially with her cherished snowmen and cardinal collections. These traditions brought warmth and joy to her family year after year. Lori also had a deep love for writing, often expressing her care through heartfelt letters and handmade cards that brought comfort and encouragement to others.

Lori is survived by her two sons, Nicholas Misurda and his wife, Amber Rockman Misurda, of Rome, and Ryan Misurda and his wife, Hailey McKay Misurda, of Rome; her sister, Debbie Mercurio Pletl and her husband, Mark Pletl; and her grandchild, Marek Misurda. She was predeceased by her son, Michael Misurda Jr. 

Funeral services will be private, at a time and date to be determined. There are no calling hours.

The family sincerely thanks Nora DeGeorge for the exceptional care she provided to Lori over the past year, as well as for her friendship and support.
