Arthur V. Fusco

1936 - 2026

Arthur V. Fusco, 89, of Rome, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on Thursday May 28, 2026. Born in Rome, NY on September 5, 1936, he was the son of the late Angelo and Amelia Marcelletta Fusco. Art graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1954, and a year later began his career at Revere Copper and Brass, where he was employed until his retirement in 2000. He married Patricia Simons on July 6, 1957, in First Methodist Church, Rome, and was a devoted husband and family man for nearly 69 years.

In his younger years, Art was an avid outdoorsman; racing canoes on the Erie Canal, hunting, camping and snowmobiling. He was a skilled woodworker and loved building furniture for family and friends. His garden and flower beds were the envy of his neighbors, particularly the heirloom garlic grown by his own father in the yard of their family home on East Dominick Street. 

A sharpshooter on the bocce courts, Art was a lifelong member of the Toccolana Club, playing in the Wednesday Night Men’s league for many years, and competing in the World Series of Bocce from its inception in 1974, until retiring from the game in 2018. 

Surviving are his wife, Patricia Fusco, daughter Denise Fusco, granddaughter Maria (Harris) Levin, great-granddaughter, Summer Levin, brother John Fusco, and an army of adoring nieces, nephews and “adopted” kids and grandkids. He was predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Amelia, son, Artie Fusco; sister, Lucy Reckentine; brother, Joseph Fusco Sr; and nephew, Joseph Fusco II. 

Whether you knew him as Dad, Papa, Pa, Uncle, or Unc, Art was everyone’s favorite, often known as “Switzerland” as he didn’t have a single enemy and was loved by all.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday June 2, 2026 at 6:00 p.m. at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd. Rome, N.Y. 13440. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., prior to the service. Burial will take place on Wednesday June 3, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Lowell Cemetery.
