Pasquale (Patsy) P. Venditti
Pasquale (Patsy) P. Venditti, age 96, of Rome, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes, New York, in the company of his family and caretakers.
Patsy was a passionate man who enjoyed playing golf, doing crossword and acrostic puzzles, and trouncing his sons, grandsons, and daughter-in-laws in almost any card game they could think up. He was an especially formidable opponent in a game of 500 Rummy or Pitch. Even at the age of 93, he was still a wizard around a golf green. It may have taken him an extra stroke or two to get to the green, but once there he was a virtuoso at chipping and putting. Patsy was extremely loving and quick with a funny remark that endeared him to all who met him.
A veteran of WWII, Patsy was stationed in England, France, and Italy during his tour of duty.
Patsy retired from the New York State Thruway Authority, where he served as a toll collector for over 25 years. With the exception of the last 13 years when he re-located to the Capital District, he lived the majority of his life in his hometown of Rome, NY.
Patsy was married for 60 years to Helen Kozlowska, who predeceased him in 2006. He was proud of his three sons: Patrick (Karen) of Saint Louis, Missouri, Richard (Mary) of Orange Park, Florida and Michael, his closest companion, chauffeur, golf and card playing partner and towards the end, caregiver and his wife, Lynn of Voorheesville, NY. He is also survived by his grandsons: Philip, Dominic, and Christopher; granddaughters: Sarah and Stephanie; and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., at Transfiguration Church, 111 Ridge St., with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. The family will receive friends at church from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., prior to his Funeral Mass. Private interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eddy Village Green House #1, 421 W Columbia St., Cohoes, NY 12047, who provided loving and attentive care to Patsy in the last few months of his life. Contributions should be marked "In memory of Patsy Venditti ".
