Anthony S. Cardello Anthony Salvatore Cardello, 90, of Rome, passed away Thursday, August 3, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Rome, NY, on August 30, 1926, son of the late James and Katherine Ross Cardello. Tony was educated in Rome Schools and graduated from Miami University. He served in the United States Army during WWII. Tony married the former Esther Sgambellone, who passed away in 1992. He retired from Rome Air Development Center as an Electrical Engineer. Tony enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, bowling and skiing. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Toccolana Club, Rome Boat Club, and Rome Knights of Columbus. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Christopher and Diane Cardello, Rome, James and Deidre Cardello, Altadena, CA, a daughter and son-in-law, AnneMarie and Michael Ambrose, Utica, and grandchildren, Jennifer Pedde, Michael and his wife Ashley Cardello, Danielle and her husband Ken Cahill, Matthew Cardello, Anthony Sirianni, Briana Ambrose and Vanessa Ambrose, great grandchildren, Levi and Hunter. A special friend, Lorraine Tedesco. He was predeceased by his wife Esther, a son, William "Rico" and two brothers, Robert "Muzzie" Cardello and James Cardello, a sister and brother-in-law, MaryAnn and Cliff Fauss. The family would like to express a special thank you to CNY Cardiology and Dr. Kachare. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 7, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Anthony Cardello Memorial Fund at Mohawk Glen Golf Course, 800 Perimeter Rd., Rome, NY 13440 for youth golf education.
