Betty M. Uvanni Betty M. Uvanni, a resident of Bethany Gardens, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011. She was born in Rome, N.Y., a daughter of the late Patrick J. and Elizabeth M. Mercurio Uvanni. Betty was employed for several years as a switchboard operator at Nunn's Answering Service and also worked for over 30 years at the former Crest Cleaners-Delta Plaza. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and was a resident volunteer at Bethany Gardens, where she was a member of the Resident Council. Betty was also a volunteer for the Special Olympics, the American Red Cross, Hospice Care, Inc., and the Accord Group of Ascension Lutheran Church. Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Gloria and Albert Panara, Rome; and several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Andrew J. Uvanni and Gerald A. Uvanni, and two sisters, Helen M. Denti and Adeline A. Holihan, and by a very special close friend, Murray Berger. The family would like to express a special thank you to the entire staff of Bethany Gardens for their care and compassion shown to Betty through the years. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Fla. 33607, Hospice Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, N.Y. 13413, or Bethany Gardens Activity Fund, 800 W. Chestnut St., Rome, N.Y. 13440.
