Rose A. Yano Rose A. Yano, 99, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare facility. She was born in Rome, NY on November 29, 1912, daughter of the late Frank and Lucile Tuesto Grasso. Rose was raised and educated in Rome. On August 24, 1935 she married Frank D. Yano in Rome; a marriage of 62 years prior to his passing on October 25, 1993. They were inseparable during their marriage. The family takes great comfort in the knowledge that Rose and Frank are now united. During her life, Rose was well cared for by her daughters after the passing of her husband. Rose was a true family woman, her life revolved around her husband and loved ones. She was never happier than when she was caring for her family and home. Rose loved cooking favorite dishes for her family, baking, gardening, flowers, and playing cards with her family and friends. She enjoyed very much her life on Dunham Road with her friends there. She also liked preparing for her dinner parties for her card clubs. Mrs. Yano was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Jeanette L. Brognano, Rome, and Barbara J. Yano, Kearneysville, WV; three grandchildren and their spouses, Barbara and Bill Swavely, Waterford, VA; Frank and Dawn Brognano, Niceville, FL; Karen and Tony Constabile, Whitesboro, NY; seven great- grandchildren, Rhett Kristl, Justin Kristl, Jessica and Jason Swavely, Kristin Brognano, Lauren Brognano, and Franklyn Brognano. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Rosemary Vaughn, Lee; Beatrice Grasso, FL; Josephine Grasso, Rome; and several nieces and nephews including a special niece Lynn White. She was predeceased by five sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Tony Scalzo, Mary and Vincent Campanaro, Theresa and Richard France, Viola and Joe LaMonte, and Delores White; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Dominick Grasso, Albert Grasso, Michael and Angie Grasso. The family offers a sincere gratitude to the entire staff of Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility wing 3 East who were so comforting and compassionate for the care of Rose. A special note of appreciation to Dr. Brian Alessi and Nurse Practitioner Pat Marrello. Funeral services will be held on Sat at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Joseph Sestito officiating, where friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.There are no public calling hours except for private family visitation on Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church memorial fund or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc., 218 W. Court St.
