Wayne R.J. Marshall Wayne R.J. Marshall, USAF Ret., 76, of Rome, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, with his family by his side. He was born in Malone, NY, on April 18, 1936, son of Robert and Georgina DeGon Marshall. Wayne graduated from Franklin Academy, Malone, NY, and received an associate's degree from Mohawk Valley Community College. On May 5, 1957, he married Catherine Eggink in Athens, Greece. She passed away February 6, 2002. Wayne retired from the U.S. Air Force as a staff sergeant, and was an employee of the City of Rome Treatment Plant. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, H.P. Smith Post #24 American Legion, VFW Rome Post #2246 and Veterans Association Inc. Wayne loved spending time with his family and friends at Brennan Beach in Pulaski, NY. To know him was to love him. Surviving besides his mother Georgina, Malone, NY, are two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne A. and Francine Marshall, Fleming Island, FL, Robert K. and Joann Marshall, Rome; two daughters and a son-in-law, Melissa and Barry Dunning and Annette Marshall Magnanti and her companion Daniel Buczek, all of Rome; ten grandchildren, Ashley, Wayne M., Zachary, Bryce, Robert J., Kayla, Nicole, Dylan, Gabrielle and Stephen. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Gerald and Barbara Marshall, Malone, NY; two brothers-in-law, Nunzio Terricone, Rochester, NY, and Leroy Villnave, Malone, NY. He was predeceased by two sisters, Carol Terricone and Elaine Villnave; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express a thank you to all his doctors, caregivers and staff, and a special thank you to Dr. Amy Gorczynski. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio. Spring burial will be in St. Helen's Cemetery, Chasm Falls, NY. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to WoundedWarriorProject.org in Wayne's memory.
