Salvatore 'Sam' DiBella Salvatore "Sam" DiBella, 91, of Rome, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013 at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born in Rome, NY on February 12, 1921, son of the late Agostino and Santa Garoffi DiBella. Sam was a graduate of Rome Free Academy and served in the US Marine Corps during WWII. He was co-owner of Boonville Bowl in Boonville, NY. Sam was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Toccolana Club and Rome and Boonville Elks Club. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and bowler. Sam was inducted into the Rome Bowling Hall of Fame. Surviving are several nieces, nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews; and great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews. He was predeceased by a brother Cosimo DiBella; and four sisters, Carmella "Mel" Rizzo, Rosina "Rose" DiBella, Maria Ann "Mary" VanMeter and Minica Casbara. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St. and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
