Sandra L. Moore Having fought a very hard and courageous battle with cancer and her loving family at her side Sandra L. Moore, 67, of the Town of Steuben, NY, peacefully passed away on July 17, 2013. Born in Canton, OH the daughter of the late William Burns and Estelle Dietz. Sandy graduated from Watervilet High, Watervilet, NY in 1965. After high school Sandy was employed as a Nurse's Aide in the Pediatrics and Geriatrics Dept, at St. Peters Hospital in Albany. On December 28, 1968 Sandy was united in marriage to the love of her life Robert Moore at St. Clare's Church, Colonie, NY. A day after their wedding Sandy left with her husband to join him at a U.S. Air Base in Italy in what was the beginning of their 44 year marriage. Sandy was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving besides her husband Bob, are two sons and daughter-in-law, Robert and Bernadette Moore, Forestport, Brian Moore, Steuben and one daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Jurgen Beckert, Kusel Germany. Missing her greatly are her grandchildren Mikayla and Cameron, Forestport, who knew her as Mema, Melanie, Bianca, Jessica and Weda, Kusel Germany, who knew her as Oma; great-grandchildren Leon, Fabian and Alisha, Germany knew her as Ur Oma. Also surviving are two sisters and one brother, Barbara, Jacqueline (Jackie) and Michael. Also surviving, someone very dear in Sandy's heart is Carol Mohlmann of Niskayuna, NY, Carol was a very special sister-in-law and best friend to Sandy. A step-brother William Milo predeceased her. Sandy was a very devoted grandmother and great-grandmother. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved them so much and enjoyed being around them whenever she could. Because of many miles over the ocean, Sandy was unable to see or spend as much time as she would have loved with all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren which left a lump in her heart. All the children were so special to her. Sandy was also a very devoted loving wife, mother, mother-in-law and friend. She was at her happiest when spending time with all her family and friends. She always looked forward to and enjoyed the many special "get-togethers" over the years. Sandy could be described as a very sweet and innocent person who contributed many acts of kindness and compassion to other over her years. She always put everyone ahead of herself to make life a little easier for others rather than for herself. Sandy always assisted in any way she could and gave up her time to help others. The only way to put it is she was a very special gift from the lord to her family and friends who knew her. On behalf of Sandy, her husband Bob would like to express their gratitude, to our very loving daughter-in-law, Bernadette. Thank you for putting fourth so much of your time and effort helping out in so many ways. Bernadette's efforts during the many months of Sandy's hard fought fight, included many research hours and inquiring on very relevant issues that gave Sandy the best possible chance of beating her terrible disease. Sandy had a much better quality of life because of Bernadette's diligent determination. Bernadette was instrumental with some important hospital decisions, helping with meals and household matters. No words can ever be enough to thank Bernadette, for her love and assistance given to Sandy and Bob but it will never be forgotten. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Atul Butala, MD., F.A.C.P. and his staff at Faxton Regional Cancer Center, Utica, for the care given to Sandy during her chemo therapy sessions and office visits throughout her ordeal. Sandy had very high regards for Dr. B she always told him he was a wonderful doctor and that she was very grateful to him for doing everything for Sandy humanly possible to cure her of this disease. Also the family would like to express their extreme gratitude to Hospice for their total professional dedication and care given to Sandy and her husband during this very difficult time. The Hospice Team was always there when needed, always putting the well-being, care, comfort and other needs of Sandy and her entire family first. Hospice made things during this extremely difficult time go as smoothly as possible during the final stages of Sandy's life. The Hospice angels who cared so much included Cheryl, Navaz, Laurie, Melissa, Ann, Stephanie, Kelly, Renee, Nadine, Jill (Chaplin) and Tara (Hospice Volunteer).
