Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frank V. Amuso Frank V. Amuso, 89, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at his son's residence, while surrounded by his loving family. Frank was born in Rome, NY, on May 17, 1924, son of the late Vincent James and Amelia (St. Thomas) Amuso. He attended Rome Schools and was a proud member of the U.S. Army serving his country in India during World War II. After returning to the states he was hired by Rome Strip Steel where he enjoyed working for 28 years before retiring in 1974. He often reminisced about his fond memories of working with Hazen and Buol Hinman. More than just his employer, Rome Strip Steel stood by him through difficult times and was like family to him. He was predeceased by his wife in 1970, the former Angeline M. Romano, whom he married in June of 1946. He absolutely adored his Angie; affectionately calling her "The Boss". Their almost 24 years of married union were the best years of his life. During Frank's younger years he enjoyed taking his wife and son on weekend drives; their favorite destination being Sylvan Beach Amusement Park. In later years he enjoyed time with his son's family watching old movies and listening to Opera music. He always looked forward to Saturday morning visits from his brother Patsy. Sunday afternoons were spent looking at his son's model train collection while playing tunes from their extensive record collection or listening to "Ciao" with Joey Nigro on Radio Station WCNY. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Frank V. and Deborah (Mathis) Amuso of Rome, NY with whom he resided the last three years of his life. Frank was a very loving grandfather who doted on his one and only grandchild, Beth Anne Amuso. His cherished Beth, whom he called "Dolly", was the light of his life. He is also survived by one brother, Patsy Amuso and predeceased by three other brothers: Vincent (Joe) Amuso, Peter Amuso, Michael Amuso and two sisters: Rose Amuso and Nancy Mahoney all of Rome, NY. And finally, he is predeceased by a special friend, Mary Maples. The family would like to express their gratitude to the employees of Hospice and Family Home Care Inc. They also wish to extend an extra special thank you to Marie-Paule (Missy) Heylen, ANP-C of Tri-County Medical Mobile Care for her knowledge, compassion, and support. Funeral Services are private. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, 218 W. Court St. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
