E.J. 'Onnie' Cannarozzi E. J. 'Onnie' Cannarozzi, 92, of Rome, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica with his loving family by his side. He was born in Rome, NY on February 19, 1922, son of the late Leonardo and Grace Sacco Cannarozzi. He was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. Onnie served with the US Army Air Corps during WWII in the 14th Air Corps Flying Tigers in the CBI Theater of Operations. On December 10, 1966 he married Joan Mason in Rome, NY. She passed away on February 14, 2014. Mr. Cannarozzi was a retired logistics specialist from Griffiss Air Force Base, Rome. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Onnie was a drummer for many years and past president of Musicians Local 313. He was an avid golfer who started as a caddie at Teugega Country Club and later served as a Pro at Beaver Brook Country Club. After his retirement Onnie managed Mohawk Glen Golf Course. In his earlier years he played semi-pro baseball and football. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Mary Ellen Blumberg, Oneida, a daughter and son-in-law, Gwen and Jeffrey Barron, Westmoreland; two grandchildren Kelly and her husband Adam Laemmermann, Eric and his wife Ashleigh Barron; and three great-grandchildren, Trent, Cole and Chase; also surviving are two sisters Lillian Bono, Frankfort and Bridget DeLutis, Rome; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Joan and four brothers, Nicholas, Vincent, Francis and Anthony 'Gip' Cannarozzi. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, P.O.
