Sue M. Aquino Sue M. Aquino, 87, of Rome, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born in Rome, NY on November 22, 1926, daughter of the late Joseph and Rose Carletta Messineo. Sue was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. On July 23, 1955 she married Joseph N. Aquino, in St. John the Baptist Church. Mrs. Aquino was a former employee of Catholic Charities. Her government employment began at Griffiss Air Force Base. In 1965, Sue along with her husband Joseph transferred to Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma. They later moved to Bedford, MA, with ESD and she retired in 1982 from Griffiss Air Force Base. Sue was awarded many Certificates of Satisfaction along with Outstanding Service Awards during her tenure in government service. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Sue was a founding member of the Rome Breast Cancer Support Group, member of Nettie's Girls and Relay for Life. Surviving besides her husband Joe, is a sister Jennie McGee, Rome; sisters-in-law, Angela Messineo, Lena Marcelletta of Rome, Vinnie Messineo, NC; a brother-in-law Al Giardino, Rome, and several beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three brothers, Sam, Joe, and Charles Messineo and three sisters Theresa Stevens, Marie Davies, Josephine DiCaprio Giardino, sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Rose and Daniel Vaccaro and James Marcelletta. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Drs. Cotronea and Tallandini for the many years of special care and a special thank you to the ICU at Rome Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 12:45 p.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m. where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Parish Visitors of Mary Immaculate, P.O.
