Phyllis (Pelano) Galluzzo Phyllis Galluzzo, 95, of Rome, passed away with her loving family by her side on Monday, March 31, 2014, at Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility. She was born in Rome, NY, on October 6, 1918, daughter of the late Concetto and Raffaela Ferusi Pelano. Phyllis graduated from Rome Free Academy. On April 7, 1945, she married Augustine F. Galluzzo in St. John the Baptist Church, a loving union of 54 years. He passed away on May 2, 1999. Phyllis was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her loving personality will remain with us forever. Phyllis was dedicated to family and her grandchildren were the joy of her life. She always looked forward to holidays, family gatherings and special events. Phyllis enjoyed traveling on bus trips with her late husband, Augustine. Surviving are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Charles Galluzzo, Rome, Robert and Sylvia Galluzzo, Floyd, and Gary Galluzzo, Hamilton; two cherished grandchildren, Jennifer and her husband Chris Battaglia, Utica, Christopher and his wife Katie Galluzzo, Liverpool; and a great granddaughter, Olivia Battaglia. Also surviving are a sister, Caroline Baptiste, Rome; two sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Augustine F. Galluzzo, five brothers, Benjamin, John, Patrick, Anthony and Joseph Pelano; three sisters, Eleanor Guarascio, Rose Pelano, Mary DiBrango. The family would like to express a special thank you to Three East at Rome Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion shown to Phyllis. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday at 10:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
