Anthony Frank Salce, Sr., 69, of Lee, owner and founder of Salces Garden Center, passed away Friday, May 25, 2007, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Rome, NY August 31, 1937, son of the late Louis and Mary Grasso Salce. Anthony graduated from Rome Free Academy. On October 12, 1957, he married Gilda Marcoccia. He founded Salce's Garden Center 35 years ago, with his wife Gilda. His blue eyes and bright smile were usually the first things to greet customers. Always welcoming and helpful, he spent his spare time helping people. He was an avid golfer, liked to travel and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Gilda, a daughter and son-in-law, MaryAnn and David Williamson, and three sons and a daughter-in-law, Louis Salce, Anthony F. Salce, Jr. and Daniel and Lori Salce, all of Rome; seven grandchildren, Marc and Casey Salce, Maria Salce, Richard Parker, Jillian Parker, Camille Parker, Bryan Salce and Quinn Salce; and a great granddaughter, Emmalee Salce; a "brother", Peter Maio, Lee Center. Also surviving are sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Lena and Don Coniglio, Josephine Benedetto, Gloria and Mike Fiaschetti, Carmella DeProspero, Sandy and Frank Kaczor; many nieces, nephews, other close relations and many dear friends, including, Tracy Pominville, Bill Perry, Adam Shaver, Spero and Sharron Haritatos, and Matthew Kuzmack. Anthony was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be sadly missed. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:15 a.m. at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. Josephs Church at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
