Stephen R. Boiko, 73, of Rome, NY, went to heaven on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at St. Joseph's Health Care, Syracuse. He was born on January 5, 1948 in Rome, NY, son of the late, Charles Sr., and Ida Casadei Boiko. Steve graduated from Rome Free Academy Class of 1966. On February 14, 2003 he married the love of his life and soulmate Gaye Elarton. Steve worked for the New York State School for the Deaf and many years as a Deputy Sherriff for Oneida County Sherriff's Department.
Steve had a big heart and personality. He loved to laugh, had a great passion for playing pocket billiards and chatting with the guys. He also enjoyed classic cars shows, going to Turning Stone Pool Tournaments and antiquing, going to his class reunions, taking rides up in the hills and loved to go grocery shopping. Steve was loved and will be greatly missed.
Surviving besides his wife, Gaye, are a sister and brother-in-law, Anna and Charles Krause, NH, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers; Charles and Russell Boiko.
Services will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours.
