Obituary of Ned Grifasi
Ned Grifasi, 84, of Rome, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, at his home. He was born in Rome, NY, on October 19, 1938, son of the late Gaetano and Assunta Carletta Grifasi. Ned graduated from Rome Free Academy. On November 18, 1961 he married Sandra "Sandy" Faro in St. John the Baptist Church. She passed away on August 18, 2016. Ned retired from Chicago Markets as a meat cutter. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and United Food and Commercial Workers Local One, Utica.
Ned enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas and cruises to the Caribbean Islands. He was well known by name at every grocery store, Applebee's and Kekis Citgo.
Surviving is a niece who was like his own daughter, Michele L. Grifasi and Larry Posselt, his beloved sister-in-law, Marie Grifasi, a great niece and nephew, Kaleigh Grace Kenealy and Cameron James Kenealy, great nephew, Mark James Grifasi II and great great nephew, Mark James Grifasi III, one of his favorite persons, Isabella Marie Posselt, all of Rome. Ned leaves many dear and close friends. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sandy, his parents, Gaetano and Assunta Grifasi, brothers, James, Richard and Frank “Cheech” Grifasi, sisters, Grace Calandra, and Marie "Maddy" Giardino, a nephew, Mark James Grifasi, nephew, Michael Grifasi and in-laws, Joe and Nettie Faro.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at church prior to his Funeral Mass. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Ned's name to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd.
