Obituary of Elaine A. Holtzer

Elaine A. Circle Holtzer, 72, of Town of Lee, NY, passed away at home on Monday, December 12, 2022, with her family by her side.  She was born in Rome, NY, on April 18, 1950, daughter of the late Charles B. Circle, Jr., and Antoinette Arena.  Elaine graduated from Rome Free Academy Class of 1969.  On October 20, 1973 she married Gordon D. Holtzer in the Griffiss Air Force Base Chapel, Rome, NY.  She was a former employee of Rome City School District and Marcy Psychiatric Center.  Elaine was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Catholic Daughters of America and St. Joseph’s Associates. She was also a life member of the Rome VFW Post 2246 Ladies Auxiliary.

Elaine was kind hearted and enjoyed spending time with her family and was often thought of as a kid at heart.  She did not like anyone to leave her house hungry.  Elaine truly “Did it her way.”

Surviving is her husband, Gordon, two daughters; Natalie Ceklovsky, Whitesboro, NY, Nicole Holtzer, Rome, a grandson, Joseph Ceklovsky, several nieces, nephews, including Philip LeTray, who was always there to help Elaine and her family, and cousins, including Barbara (Frank) LaMonica, Carol (Henry) Furgol, all of Rome.  She was predeceased by her son, Gordon C. Holtzer, her mother, Antoinette Circle and Charles B. Circle III. 

The family would also like to acknowledge a special friend, Tony Salce, who was always there to help Elaine and her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating, where relatives and friends are invited to attend.  Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., Rome, on Thursday December 15, 2022 from 4-6 p.m.  Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions in Elaine’s name may be made to: Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413.
