Obituary of Frank Anthony Viviani
Frank A. Viviani, 88, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17, 2023. He was born in Rome, N.Y., on February 22, 1935, the son of the late Louis and Palma LaPorte Viviani.
Frank is a 1953 graduate of Rome Free Academy where he excelled at football, basketball and baseball. He went on to attend the Albany College of Pharmacy and graduated in 1958. Frank served in Korea as a member of the United States Army. He married Angela George on August 11, 1962 in St. John’s Church. Frank worked as a pharmacist for more than 40 years at various locations including Sanzone's Pharmacy, Carl's Drugs, Rite Aid, Marcy Psychiatric Center and Oneida Correctional Facility. Frank was honored to be inducted into both the Albany College of Pharmacy Sports Hall of Fame in 1982 and the Rome Sports Hall of Fame in 2005.
Known as "Viv" by his friends, Frank's real passion was golf. He loved playing, and especially loved practicing. Frank played thousands of rounds of golf at the course he treasured most, Teugega Country Club, where he and his wife Angela were members for more than 60 years. Even into his 80's, he was striving to get better and still considered himself a student of the game. Frank also loved reading novels, books/magazines about golf, and studying the stock market. He was always willing to offer his advice on a "good stock”.
Among so many other things, Frank will be remembered for his warm smile and kind words. To know Frank was to love Frank, and his kind and humble way touched so many lives.
Frank is preceded in death by his mother, father and sister, Carol Regan. He is survived by his wife, Angela, daughter, Luann, sister, Marie Nardozza, brother, Louis Viviani and many nieces, nephews.
