Dawn M. Comeau, 76, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2023. She was born in Rome, N.Y., on May 21, 1947, daughter of the late Andrew Comeau and Eleanor Barnes. Dawn graduated from Gloversville High School. She was previously employed at Faxton Hospital, Stonehedge Nursing Home, and McDonald’s in Rome. Dawn was a loving mother to the light of her life, her son Philip Anthony Traut-Snyder, who passed away on May 4, 1985. She was an avid walker and loved to spend time with her great-nieces and nephews. They really did bring her joy.

Dawn is survived by her sister, Diane Cosimeno, nieces, Lisa Zurek, Louise (Pete) Schipano, and Diane (James) D’Amico, as well as her great-nieces and great-nephews, Louis and Serina Cosimeno, Olivia and Louis Zurek, Santino and Lucca Schipano, and Gianna and Elena D’Amico. She was predeceased by her parents, Andrew Comeau and Eleanor Barnes, her son, Philip A. Traut-Snyder, and special cousins, Robert and Gail Allen and many loving and caring cousins and  friends.

The family wiishes to express a special thank you to the nurses from Hospice and the team at Oneida Health Care/Roswell Park.  Dawn felt loved each and every time.  They were all so caring and compasionate during her time at the center and in her final days at her sister's.
