Matthew J. Glod, 70, of Sylvan Beach, N.Y., passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Oneida Health. He was born in Utica, N.Y. on July 19, 1952, son of the late Matthew Glod and Iva Hinkley. Matt graduated from Utica Free Academy and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. In 1975, he married Thomasina “Lou” Dombrowski. He was of the Roman Catholic faith. Matt was owner of Matt Glod Electric, LLC for over forty years and he cherished and valued the friendships he developed with his many customers during that time.  He was also a former employee of Revere Copper and Brass.

He is survived by his wife, Lou, two sons, Thomas “TJ”, and Mike Spear, a grandson, Lee Thomas Spear, a granddaughter Marissa Blowers, a great-grandson, Zayden, and two great-granddaughters, Daisy and Abigail. Also surviving is a brother, Keith Glod, and a sister Mindy Glod, as well as a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and James Harvey, and a sister-in-law, Jill Kieffer, and several nieces and nephews. Matt leaves behind his two best canine companions, Jackson and Chase, who he loved spending time with. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Carol Glod, and two brothers-in-law, John Dombrowski, and Mark Kieffer.    

Private graveside services with Military Honors will be held at North Bay Lawn Cemetery. There are no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
