Obituary of Stephen Magnanti

Stephen Magnanti, 67, of Rome passed away Saturday July 22nd, 2023. He was born in Rome, NY on October 21st, 1955, son of the late Alfred and Rosemary Carletta Magnanti. Steve graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1973. He spent his working years as a skilled mason and later a well-known taxi driver in Rome. 

Steve enjoyed spending his free time golfing, fishing and never missed a Yankee game. He was an avid sports fan and could often be heard talking about the latest game. Steve had a great sense of humor; giving everyone he met their own nickname. He lived a simple life and you never had to guess what he was thinking.  Steve was a proud father and grandfather.

Steve is survived by his three children Nicolle (Christopher) Webber of Arizona, Gabrielle Magnanti of Florida, and Stephen (Lacey) Magnanti of Rome; his grandsons Cooper and Stephen; siblings Rosemary Magnanti, Alfred (Debbie) Magnanti, Peggy (Dennis) Demers; nieces Michelle and Ashley; friends Joe Barone, Ricky Scerra, and Ron Lamascolo. Steve was extremely grateful for the support, friendship and care from his ex-wife, Annette Marshall-Magnanti.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday July 27, 2023 at 11:00am, at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 East Dominick Street in Rome, N.Y. The family will receive friends from 10:00am to 11:00am prior to the Mass.
