Obituary of Madelyn F Rella
Madelyn Durse Rella –wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, aunt – woman who left a lasting impact and legacy – left this world on Sunday, July 23, 2023 to join her husband, daughter, sisters, parents and all other family members who predeceased her.
She was born on August 22, 1921 to Joseph and Maria DiMaio Durse in Frankfort, NY. Madelyn married Edward Rella on September 23, 1939 and moved to Oriskany, NY. Madelyn was a devout Catholic who single handedly populated the town of Oriskany with 9 children; Mary Anne, Francis, Edwina (she passed away in 2015), Vincent, Joseph, Roberta, Damian , Gerarda & Michele. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren.
Madelyn will be remembered by her family for Sunday dinners, picnics at the beach and all of the holidays spent with her family.
There will be a viewing for the family on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at 9:30 a.m., at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., Rome, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 noon, at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., Rome, NY. The family will receive friends at church prior to the Mass from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Entombment will be along-side her husband at Calvary Cemetery, Utica, NY.
