Carmine P. Stagliano, 96, of First St., Rome, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2010. He was born in Rome, N.Y. on July 20, 1913, the youngest son born to Ralph and Maria Tallarino Stagliano. Carmine was educated in Rome schools. On February 12, 1944, he married Anna (Nunie) Dellork. They shared a blessed union of 54 years together before her passing on November 5, 1998. Mr. Stagliano retired from the Rome City School District on July 5, 1983 as Head Custodian of Stokes Elementary School. He took pride in all that he did at Stokes and always went the extra mile for the faculty, staff and students. Always having a strong desire for learning, Carmine spent many hours reading and studying whatever he could. He enjoyed listening to the national news and viewing the history channel daily, and truly enjoyed discussing world news, history and politics. Carmine enjoyed gardening and using his home computer, but his greatest love was for his family. He enjoyed being with his family or hearing about any successes of his grandchildren. Carmine was a wonderful, loving and devoted father and grandfather. He will be truly missed. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Carmine F. and MaryJane Stagliano, Rome, Dennis and Sandy Stagliano, Denton, Texas, and Augustine (Augie) and Wendy Stagliano, Ithaca, NY; and a daughter and son-in-law, Maryann and Anthony Rotolo, Rome. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, David Stagliano, Helena, MT, Theresa (Scott) Falcone, Lexington, SC., Melissa "Missy" Stagliano, Denver, CO, Anna Maria Stagliano Calandra, Aliquippa, PA Dennis (Kristen) Stagliano, Denton TX, Bethany Stagliano, Bronx, NY, Mark (Alyssa) Stagliano, Latham, NY, Alexandra Stagliano and Daniel Stagliano,both of Ithaca, NY and Anthony J. Rotolo, Jr., Cicero, NY and Annmarie Rotolo, Portland, ME, three great grandchildren, Peter Anthony Calandra, Nicolas Carmine Calandra and Connor Stagliano, and one on the way. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ralph Stagliano and Augustine "Gus" Stagliano, and one grandson, Matthew John Stagliano. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 1, 2010 at 10:15 a.m. From the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc,218 W.Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 am. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. The family requests flowers be omitted.
