Virginia V. Bommarito Rovall
1938 – 2023
Virginia Vincenza Rovall, 85, of Rome, passed away Sunday, September 10th, 2023 in Houston Texas. She was born in Rome, NY, on July 30, 1938, daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Tripple Bommarito. On August 25, 1956 she married Ronald R. Rovall, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He passed away June 8, 2002. Virginia was co-owner with her late husband of Hot Diggity Dog with a Lickety Split Bun Restaurant and tourist attraction for over twenty years, along with several other businesses in Rome. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Virginia enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping and boating. She loved gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. Along with her husband Ron Sr. they were active members of the Arion Singing Society and the Arion Stein Club in Syracuse, Onieda Lake Sailing Club, and the Rome Sports Car Club where she was affectionately known as Jaguar Ginny.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law: Ronald Jr. and Tami Rovall, Michael and Kirsten Rovall, all of Houston, Texas. Grandchildren: Nathalie Rovall, Jonathan Rovall, and Mikayla Rovall. Also surviving is a sister Rosemarie Hardin of Rome, wife of the late Joseph Hardin, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. The late Joseph Bommarito was her younger brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 22, at 11:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery following Mass. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday September 21st, from 4-6 p.m., at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., Rome.
