Santo Emmanuele
1942 – 2024
Santo Emmanuele, 81, of Rome, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday January 04, 2024, with his loving family by his side. He was born in Castrofilippo, Province of Agrigento, Sicily on May 29, 1942, son of the late Edoardo and Concetta (Rosa) Bellavia Emmanuele. Santo served in the Italian Army, with the Bersaglieri D’Italia. On December 16, 1964, he married Josephine Dainotto in Sicily. They moved to Rome, N.Y. in 1965. Santo retired from Rome Strip Steel as a machine operator. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Santo was a hardworking individual, who was very proud of his accomplishments and his family. He enjoyed spending his time watching horse racing, bocce at the Toccolana Club and playing Sicilian cards.
Surviving besides his loving wife Josephine are two devoted sons, Edoardo (Theresa) Emmanuele, and Carmelo (Jennifer) Emmanuele, all of Rome, four grandchildren, Santino Emmanuele, Christina and Christopher Vomer, Josie and Carmelo Emmanuele, and one great-grandson, Santino Vomer. Also surviving are three sisters, Francesca Emmanuele, Cologera Emmanuele, and Rosa Emmanuele, and one brother, Lillo Emmanuele, all of Sicily, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday January 11, 2024 at 12:30 p.m., at St. John the Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Family and friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd. Rome on Wednesday January 10, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
