Elsie M. (Selvetti) DelNero

1925 – 2024

Elsie M. DelNero, 98, of Rome, passed away on Thursday February 22, 2024, at Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Rome. She was born in Perryville, N.Y. on April 27, 1925, daughter of the late Renato and Gladys Farrington Selvetti. Elsie was educated in Rome schools. She was employed as a clerk for Frigid Flow Company in Rome, a business run by her husband and brother-in-law. On October 13, 1945, she married Roger A. DelNero, Sr. in St. John the Baptist Church, Rome. He passed away on July 07, 2023.

Elsie was an avid bowler in the Women’s League at King Pin Lanes. She was also a member of the Home Bureau Program at Cooperative Extension. Elsie loved to sing, and won various singing contests as a teenager. She even had one of her songs become a recorded cut. In her younger years, Elsie also loved to dance and ice skate in her spare time.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger A. Jr. (Sandy) DelNero, Gallupville, N.Y. and David A. (Elizabeth) DelNero, Carver, MA; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah A. (Anthony) Guarneiri, Durhamville; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Renato and Gladys Selvetti, and her husband, Roger A. DelNero, Sr.

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the staff at Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the kindness and compassion shown toward Elsie during her time at the facility.
