Paul J. Costello

1937 – 2024

Paul J. Costello, 87, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday March 06, 2024, at Rome Health. He was born in Rome, N.Y. on February 23, 1937, son of the late Paul J. Sr., and Marie Matteo Costello. Paul was educated in Rome schools. He was united in marriage to Judith Feole in 1963. Paul was employed by Pettibone Corporation in Rome as a Foreman.

Paul was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling and just loved doing anything outdoors. In his younger years, Paul was known to race stock cars locally.  

Surviving besides his wife, Judith, are two daughters; Debbie (Jamie) Palutis, and Leila Ann (Rick) Harris, a son, Paul J. III (Gretchen) Costello, five grandchildren, Matthew and Patrick Costello, Gianna Bartolotti, Joseph Palutis, and Jason Worden, as well as several nieces and nephews. The family would also like to give special acknowledgement to Rocky Jo Balzano, who was always with Paul out in the yard and working on different projects and was like a son to him. Paul really enjoyed the time they spent together. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Paul Sr., and Marie Costello, and two sisters, Marie LeBon and Anne Costello.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday March 14, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick Street in Rome, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Church, prior to the Funeral Mass.
