1966 - 2024

 

It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Tina Marie Procopio announce her peaceful passing on Wednesday July 3rd, 2024 at the age of 58 years old.

 

She was born in Oklahoma City, OK. Tina attended Saint Michaels Elementary School in Houston Texas, and Rome Public Schools, graduating from Rome Free Academy in 1984, and from Potsdam University in 1989. She worked for the Department of Child Protection and New York State Department of Corrections totaling 30+ years of service. Tina was a swimmer on the RFA Swim Team, as well as all through college at Potsdam. She was an avid runner, enjoyed running in marathons and the yearly boilermakers. Tina also attended as many Ragnar events as possible. She was a member of Rome Ascend CrossFit, where she was passionate about achieving her fitness goals. Tina had a camper and enjoyed camping with her son Anthony, family and friends for many years. 

 

She is survived by her parents Lorraine Hoke and Thomas Procopio, a son Anthony Capron, the love of her life, her loving brother Thomas (Marybeth) Procopio of AZ., step siblings, Tina Jordan and Mike Hoke, cherished nieces, Isabella, Gianna and Gabriella Procopio of AZ, Alexa Jordan of Syracuse and Justin Hoke.  She was blessed with a special aunt, Patty Salamino of Las Vegas., an aunt, Carol (Frank) Riolo, aunt, Linda Trophia, two uncles, Tony (Joan) and Gary Trophia, who were always by her side, an aunt, Tisia (Eric) Stemp, as well as first cousins, Deana, Christie, Johnny, Patrick, Anthony Jr, Bryan, Mary Ellen and Michelle. Tina was predeceased by her much-loved step-father Tom Hoke, and step-mother Stephanie Procopio, grandparents Anthony and Patricia Trophia, Tom and Teresa Procopio, and Mack, her much loved Pug of seventeen years.

 

Her life ended way too early with cancer. She had many plans for her retirement! Tina was a fighter until the end. She will be always be remembered for her contagious laugh, kindness, love and strength. Her pain is gone, her stay was short, her memory will last forever.

 

The family would like to thank many co-workers and CrossFit friends who supported her through her battle, and their visits to home and hospital bringing flowers, and gifts, as well as their generous fundraising projects (Sharon). The family also appreciated their many stops to the hospital with hugs and love that brought so much happiness to Tina. We would also like to thank Rome Health Residential Medical Staff for their outstanding care and a special thanks to Rev. Paul Angelicchio for his many visits and prayers.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday July 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick Street, Rome with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio, officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the church, prior to Mass. Burial will take place in St John the Baptist Cemetery. 

 

In lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tina’s name to the Marion Guild of St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick Street, Rome, N.Y. 13440, or Humane Society of Rome, Inc.,  PO Box 4572, Rome, NY  13442-4572.

 

Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 7751 Merrick Rd., Rome, N.Y. 13440.
