Eric C. Hugo

1954 – 2024

Eric C. Hugo, 69, of Rome, passed away on Friday August 30, 2024, at Upstate University Hospital, in Syracuse, NY, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rome, NY on November 30, 1954, son of the late Charles and Madeline Esposito Hugo. Eric attended Rome schools and graduated from Rome Free Academy. Eric served his country in the United States Air Force from 1972 until his retirement in 1993. During his time in the Air Force, he worked in various career fields and traveled the world.

Eric is survived by his mother Madeline (Esposito) Hugo, sisters Robin Rockhold, Rebecca Estal, and brother Keith Hugo. He is also survived by his beloved children; Jaime (Adam) Gray, Kristine (Gregory) Hoag, Erica (Jason) Rutherford and Sean Hugo. He cherished his ten grandchildren and loved his time with them; Tristan (Ashley), Ryan, Gabriel, Andrew, Isabella, Nikolas, Liam, Helaina, Madeline, and Arielle. He also leaves behind three nieces; Krista and Makayla Rockhold, and Stephanie (Christopher) Muraca, as well as four nephews; Damian, Xavier, and Tucker Muraca, and Joshua Hugo.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick Street, Rome, with the Rev. Robert Kelly officiating. The Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Church, prior to the Mass. At the conclusion of Mass, Military Honors will be rendered for Eric. Burial will take place at a later date, at the convenience of the family.
