Emma M. Arcuri Emma M. Arcuri, 86, of Rome, passed away Friday, April 30, 2010 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford. She was born on Staten Island, N.Y. on January 20, 1924, daughter of the late, Lawrence and Frieda Uhrig Maydich. Emma served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. On February 26, 1946, she married Thomas Arcuri in Immaculate Conception Church, Staten Island. He passed away, March 31, 1975. Mrs. Arcuri retired from Griffiss Air Force Base and was former owner of Arcuri's Ceramics. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and former member of its parish council and Alter Rosary Society. Mrs. Arcuri was a former member of Zonta International, GALS Club, and was an avid gardener. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Sally Arcuri, Raymond and Heather Arcuri, Edward and Jacqueline Arcuri, a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and James Pike, all of Rome; nine grandchildren, Clarissa Arcuri, Stephen Granacki, Kristin Granacki, Jennifer Arcuri, Jason Arcuri, Edward Arcuri Jr., Thomas Arcuri, Sara Caviola, and James Pike; a great-grandson, Gabriel Caviola. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Helen Maydick, Staten Island, three sisters, Marie Jeffers, PA., Frances Taylor, N.J., and Dorothy O'Shaughnessy, Rome, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence Maydich and John Maydick, and four sisters, Helen Siminski, Frieda King, Elsie Naples, and Theresa Grieme. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Scott Brehaut, the staff of Willow unit of the Presbyterian Home and Three East of St. Luke's Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church where friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church Memorial Fund.
