Louise M. Carissimo Louise M. Carissimo, a resident of Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility, entered peacefully into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at the age of 96. Louise was born in Rome, NY, daughter of the late Angelo and Grace Ferrare Vaccaro. She married Leonard Carissimo, who preceded her in death in October of 1963. Louise was retired from Rome State School, where she lovingly tended to children with special needs. She was a long time communicant of St. John the Baptist Church. Louise was known as "Grandma Lu Lu" by all and her pride and joy was her family. She will be lovingly remembered for her cooking, baking and making the many afghans, mittens and hats, and most importantly for her positive spirit, kind words, pure heart and devotion to her family. Louise leaves two daughters and their husbands, Camille and Joseph Beck of Fort Myers, Florida, and Paula and Tony Borruso of Rome. She also leaves seven grandchildren, Melissa and Howard Rath of Hebron, CT, Denise and James Wallace of Belleville, NY, Anthony and Julie Borruso of Safety Harbor, FL, Loni and Steve Rowell of Hingham, MA, Joelle and Robert Prosser of N. Huntingdon, PA, Joseph and Keri Beck of Wakefield, RI, and Karissa and Todd Schutt of Geneva, NY; 15 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by a loving sister, Jenny, who showed tireless devotion to her and was at her bedside at the time of her passing. She also leaves some very special friends, Louise Silva, Lillian Ritchie and Jean Catanzaro, all of Rome. She was also predeceased by seven siblings, four sisters, Pauline Gratch, Mary Bommarito, Nelly Vaccaro and Margaret Mariano, and three brothers, Jim, Dominick and Sandy Vaccaro. The family wishes to thank the staff at Rome Memorial Residential Healthcare for their tender care of their special Grandma Lu Lu. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 17, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court Street. Please omit flowers.
