Obituary of Margaret B. Savoie

Margaret B. Savoie Margaret B. Savoie, 76, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at Rome Memorial Hospital with her loving husband and son by her side. She was born in Ayr, Scotland on June 28, 1934, daughter of the late William and Mary McWhirter Dunlop. On October 4, 1956 she married Joseph R. J. Savoie in St. Margaret's Church, Ayr, Scotland. Margaret was a former employee of Barbara Jane's Home Healthcare Service. She was of the Catholic faith. Margaret dedicated her life to the service of her family and country, and had traveled the globe, visiting Africa, Japan, Great Britain, Morocco, Germany and had been all over the U.S. She was well known in the Air Force community. An avid floral arranger, she enjoyed gardening, sewing and singing. Surviving besides her husband Joseph are a son, Andrew Savoie and companion Doug Reardon, Jr., Rome; three daughters and two sons-in- law, Laura and Thomas, South Carolina; Linda Grace Weathers, Nebraska; Theresa and Robert Young, Bentonville, Ark.; four grandchildren, Joseph, Andrew, Craig and Roger; and four great- grandchildren, Alena, Paul, Avelyn and Sarabeth. Also surviving are two brothers, Allen Dunlop, Ayr, Scotland; and William Dunlop, Australia; and special friends, Douglas and Frances Swaim, Koernesville, N.C. She was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and Douglas Dunlop, and a sister, Joan Anderson. The family would like to express a special thank you to Rome Memorial Hospital ICU staff for their exceptional care. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 4:00 PM at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St. Entombment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 PM.
